This article assesses the effect of immigration on the educational choices of natives. To this
purpose, we use the French Labour Force Survey between 2003 to 2019. We differentiate the effect
of low skilled immigration from skilled immigration and track the effect both on the probability of
natives graduating and the choice of the field. Using an instrumental variable strategy, we find no
significant effect of immigration on a native's chance of accessing higher education or choosing a
scientific program once in college.
